Tonya Johnson – Head Coach, LSU Volleyball

Tonya Johnson is the head coach of LSU Volleyball and founder of SOAR, with a career that comes full circle in Baton Rouge. A Zachary, Louisiana native, she first made her mark as a four-year letterwinner at LSU, helping the Tigers capture SEC titles and reach the program’s first Final Four.

She returned to LSU in 2022 after 14 years on staff at the University of Texas, where she helped build one of the nation’s premier programs with multiple Final Four runs, national championship appearances and conference titles. Widely respected for her recruiting and player development, Johnson has coached elite talent at the national level, including serving as co-head coach for the U.S. Women’s National A2 Team.

Johnson is known for setting high standards, building strong team culture and mentoring athletes beyond the court. Through SOAR, she extends that impact by investing in leadership, confidence and growth for the next generation.
