Dani Busboom Kelly, named the 2021 AVCA National Coach of the Year, has been at the helm of the Louisville volleyball program since late 2016, guiding the Cardinals to remarkable achievements every year. In 2022, under her leadership, Louisville reached its second consecutive Final Four appearance, securing its first-ever NCAA Championships match and earning the ACC's automatic qualifier with a remarkable 17-1 record in the league. Coach Busboom Kelly has consistently elevated the Cardinals to historic heights both on and off the court.
In 2021, she led Louisville to its best season yet, finishing 32-1 and achieving the program's first No. 1 ranking. This remarkable season included a sweep of three top-ten teams in just nine days and a new attendance record at L&N Arena. Coach Busboom Kelly's commitment to excellence extends beyond the court, as evidenced by her players' numerous academic achievements and accolades.
Before her tenure at Louisville, Coach Busboom Kelly gained valuable experience as an assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of Nebraska, contributing to the team's impressive record and winning the 2015 NCAA National Championship. Her own collegiate career at Nebraska was illustrious, marked by her versatility as both a setter and libero, earning her recognition as one of the Big 12's best libero players in 2006.
Off the court, Dani Busboom Kelly's dedication to volleyball has been unwavering, coaching at various levels and earning accolades for her contributions to the sport. With a Bachelor's degree in communication studies from Nebraska, she combines her passion for volleyball with her commitment to academic excellence, inspiring athletes both on and off the court.
